Happy Thursday Dragonfly Families! This week our focus was colors. We read the story Brown Bear, Brown Bear to identify colors. Next, we sorted Fruit Loops according to color and identified the primary colors of teddy bear manipulatives and used that knowledge to complete color patterns. We also learned about mixing colors to create new colors. The Dragonflies used their hands and fingers to mix yellow and blue to make green after reading the book Little Blue, Little Yellow. We also read Harold and the Purple Crayon and had fun drawing with purple crayons afterward. This week during Second Steps we focused on listening and realized that when we follow listening rules it helps everyone learn...eyes are watching, ears are listening, voices are quiet, and bodies are calm. Our letter of the week was L. The Dragonflies are taking their Mat Man skills and knowledge (straight and curvy lines) and using it as we begin to identify, name, and form letters. We continue to learn about our character trait for the month, respect and are mindful of ways we can be respectful to each other. During Music, we had more fun with egg shakers, practiced more yoga poses, and had some fun with stretchy bands, and in Art we drew straight and curvy lines and painted pictures at the easels.
