 Happy Thursday Families! This week our theme was transportation, and the letter of the week was W.  We continued our Second Steps lessons of playing fairly and now understand that sometimes others have different wants and likes than we do and that choosing to have fun with others rather than get your own way helps us to be friends.  This week The Dragonflies learned a traffic light song and made our own traffic lights, used toy cars to play a counting game, and stamped foam blocks in paint to create various modes of transport. We watched a video titled "Means of Transport for Kids" and read Sheep in a Jeep and Little Blue Truck. In Music we used drumsticks to keep the beat to several songs, and in Art we completed our border project from last week.

 Happy Thursday Families! This week The Dragonflies learned about arctic animals with an emphasis on penguins, and the letter of the week was V.  During our Second Steps lessons, the children learned that trading and taking turns are fair and fun ways to play.  They are improving in their ability to independently solve conflicts without teacher intervention. We practiced our cutting skills by cutting out "Pip Pip the Penguin," played with plastic penguins in a tub of ice, made polar bear faces using cotton balls and paper plates, made penguins with oval shapes and paint, and made arctic animal dwellings using sugar cubes.  We read Be Brave Little Penguin, The Little Penguin, and danced like a penguin to "The Penguin Dance." During Music we sang our brave song and learned a new animal action song titled "Once I had a Little Dog," and in Art we read Tar Beach by Faith Ringgold and created borders to go along with the story. The Dragonflies had so much fun telling and showing each other what they wanted to be when they grow up!
