 Hello Families! What a fun week we had in The Dragonfly class topped off by the fun filled field trip to the pumpkin patch! The kids seemed like they had a grand time. We continued our lesson on feelings during Second Steps and learned that focusing attention on situations can also help us tell how someone else is feeling- The Dragonflies could name the feelings surprised and scared when presented with physical and situational clues. Our letter of the week was U. We identified the letters of our first name to make pumpkin names,  used fine motor skills to hammer golf tees into a pumpkin, sorted various Halloween manipulatives, experimented with a variety of fall items in the sensory table, painted pumpkins at the easel, and colored candy corns and sorted them according to their pattern. We read Click, Clack, Boo, Room on the Broom. In Music, we learned a song called "Five Perfect Pumpkins," kept rhythm with sticks, and played a pass the pumpkin game.  It goes without saying that the pumpkin patch trip was a huge success despite the showers.  Hello Families! We have enjoyed another fun week of learning. Our letter of the week was I. During Second Steps, we learned to look at people's faces and bodies for clues to help us tell how they feel. We talked about feeling happy and sad and how it's okay to experience all emotions. This week The Dragonflies made a spider web using golf balls and paint, painted friendly ghosts at the easel, stamped pumpkin shaped sponges in paint to create a collage, and played a  jack o lantern counting game.  We read I'm Not Scared, The Runaway Pumpkin, and Five Little Pumpkins.  During Music, we sang "Big Blue Monster Snack Attack," a fun ghost song, and "Pumpkin Stew," and in Art Ms. Tara introduced us to the artist, YaYoi Kusama and her use of dots and completed a dot paint project.  The highlight of the week was our visit from the Creve Coeur Fire Department!
