April 23-25, 2024

Hello Families! We completed our bird theme this week and began a garden unit that will last several weeks. This week we started reviewing the alphabet and used all types of wooden "lines" to form the letters, glued feathers on our birds and glued them in their respective nests, made patterns using a variety of pictures, drew and counted flowers in our garden, and cooperated to make a dragonfly for the hallway bulletin board. We read I am not a Bird! and Lola Plants a Garden.  During Music we practiced the movements to our school song, played the drums, and learned a new song titled 'I can do Things even When They're Hard.' We celebrated Abilities Day in the gym today with a variety of learning stations after reading a wonderful book by Todd Parr titled It's Okay to be Different. Also, a very Happy 4th Birthday to George!

April 16-18, 2024

Hello Families! Our theme this week was birds. We have finished introducing all of the alphabet letters, so we will review all that we have learned by not only naming the letters but also forming them as well.  We have also completed our Second Steps curriculum for the year, but we will continue to review the major concepts for the remainder of the school year. This week we read The Best Nest, I am Not a Bird, and Don't Let the Pigeon Drive the Bus. We used pastels to color birds and made nests using paint and paper shred and played a bird-nest themed counting game. We received a special visit from the Creve Coeur Police Department as well. Officer Bidwell showed us her special police car and Officer Phil introduced us to his special police dog Frisbee - this was the highlight of the week hands down! We had fun singing and playing the triangles during Music, and in Art we completed the bird/scribble nest project. Also, Happy Birthday to Thea!
