Happy New Year! We hope this first blog post finds everyone well. Our theme for the next few weeks will be a combination of winter and snow, and our letter of the week was D. Our new character education word of the month is generosity - sharing with and giving to others. During Second Steps, the focus was naming feelings. The Dragonflies learned to name their feelings in response to varying scenarios and demonstrated how they can calm down by taking deep belly breaths. This week we made snowflakes using glue and glitter, made winter chains, played in shaving cream snow, painted snowmen at the easel, made a winter scene using circles and Q tips, and made snowmen using model magic. We read A Silly Snowy Day, Snowmen at Night, and Sadie and the Snowman. During Music we rang bells to various winter themed songs and we ice skated using paper plates, and in Art we painted pieces of cardboard with paint sticks to use in making a sculpture next week after learning about sculpture by the artist Ruth Asawa.
